How do I train my dog lay on his bed?
My two dogs just got their own beds and they are great circle puggles they are naturally stubborn. So how can I train them to lay on their bed and let them know that is what it thanksss
Ok, this will require more explanation than I can give here, but I'll try. You must first purchase a clicker (go to a pet store, they will know what is) and some great treats. Then, working with a dog at a time. First, click the clicker and give the dog a piece of food. Continue until the dog is in search of food after each click. Then, start working at the bedside. Start by clicking on treatment and the dog simply looking at the bed. Then when they get about 80% success with it, just click to place part of their body on the bed (like a paw). Then slowly increase the criteria for how long the dog's body must put on the bed. Finally, the dog would find themselves down on the bed. When they still lying on the bed add the command you want (I use "go to bed"). Remember, consistency is the key. If you click once to research bed, you have to click each time until the behavior becomes consistent. In addition, always delivered with a click treatment, even if you clicked inadvertently.
